Palestinian ambassador praises Cuban solidarity

Havana, May 19 (ACN) Palestine's ambassador to Cuba, Ibrahim Al Zeben, expressed his recognition to the Cuban people, their Socialist Revolution and President Fidel Castro for the support offered to the Palestinian cause.

In a recent interview with Juventud Rebelde newspaper in Havana, Al Zeben, denounced that the United States, European Union and Israel are using economic pressure against the Palestinian people over their democratic election of the Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas in that country's most recent legislative elections.

"However, Hamas has not been given the chance to govern yet," said the Palestinian diplomat.

"The US-EU blackmail policy is nothing new"—he said, adding—"It began with the Al Aqsa Intifada after Yasser Arafat was confined, arrested, and I dare say, murdered in Ramala."

Al Zeben said that the major powers are blackmailing the Palestinian people in order to wrestle from them what they can not get by means of the law. "The occupation of Palestinian lands has no justification or legal basis, so they want to force us to accept the wall and the colonies," Al Zeben concluded.
