Indigenous leader applauds Cuba's literacy campaign in Bolivia
Havana, June 12 (ACN) President of the Bolivia's Multiethnic Indigenous Territory stated that Cuba's "Yo si puedo" (Yes I can) literacy program will be translated into native dialects for its implementation in various regions of Bolivia.
Adolfo Yomina noted that this initiative will allow his illiterate brethren to learn of their rights and duties; simultaneously their culture and identity is preserved, reported the Prensa Latina news agency.
Yominao explained that Bolivian authorities have created commissions have been working to identify locations for classrooms since March.
In addition, the indigenous leader praised the results of the Cuban program as well as the island's interest on preserving native languages - such as Mobima, Ignaciano, Mojeno, Yuracare, Trinitarian and Chiman.
Bolivia's mass literary campaign has already graduated the first group of 1,000 citizens--85 percent of them women-- in less than three months. This was described by President Evo Morales as being unprecedented in that nation's history.
